FacilityQuest recently conducted research interviews and focus groups with space planners, facility managers, and workplace strategists and explored gaps in the tools available to these professionals. In responding to these research findings FacilityQuest is looking to partner with five companies to pilot new ways of planning and managing the workplace. If your company has outgrown ad-hoc methods of tracking space resources and assets, or needs to capture better data to inform new ways of working, please apply below and we will be in touch.

The Research

With the advent of hybrid working, the data needs of workplace strategists, facility managers, and space planners are changing in numerous ways. Workplace management software providers must adapt by responding to the market’s needs. Starting in January 2021, FacilityQuest conducted a series of interviews and focus groups with workplace strategists, facility managers, and space planners. This research focused on individual participants’ needs and work. It generated discussion on pain points, and tested responses to FacilityQuest value propositions. It’s a good read and offers insight to the overall market.

The Pilots

In response to this research, FacilityQuest has invested in use-case innovations that require partnership to validate. Understanding that many companies are using disconnected methods and tools for documenting and tracking workplace resources and activities, FacilityQuest has determined efficient workflows that can be accessed from anywhere that focus on floor plans to organize a database of workplace information. These different use cases are in workplace planning and management, space utilization, and employee engagement.

Workplace Planning and Management: In addition to traditional data about room types, sizes, and capacities, FacilityQuest offers a new way of organizing workplace information. The “data on plans” approach allows quick, easy and intuitive access to your information making it simple to update your data and plan for the future. Functions like photo mapping of spaces can be used to easily document current use and amenities or set up virtual walk-throughs of a space. FacilityQuest allows you to make informed plans for a space when you cannot physically be there. Your data, in context, at your fingertips.

Utilization and Comfort Data: FacilityQuest has a long history of occupancy and space utilization data gathering and its importance in decision making. In the research we identified a gap in access to gathering these kinds of data for small to mid-sized organizations as studies can often be expensive and logistically challenging. In response, FacilityQuest simplified the ability to collect and analyze data, with do-it-yourself workflows that don’t demand full-time focus.

Additionally, FacilityQuest is looking for pilots with companies interested in gathering employee “comfort data.” Using the same data gathering work flows as for utilization data, an “observer” can record either actual environmental data such as sound levels or temperatures, or they can gather employees’ responses to questions like “are you experiencing temperatures that are comfortable right now?”

With new team functions and greater data collection accuracy features, the process of data collection is streamlined. We want to test the benefits of utilization and comfort data when it is extended to smaller companies interested in agile responses to current challenges. For companies that need to understand more about their employees’ use of space, this is an opportunity to collect objective data about the workplace. FacilityQuest endeavors to make observation-based data gathering accessible and manageable for all organizational sizes.

Employee Engagement FacilityQuest offers unique outreach systems to collect and compile employee engagement feedback from SMS texting and photos. This system enables the company to collect detailed, unobtrusive data from employees on any subject. For space planning, engage with employees and learn about their feelings and needs on their working environments whether on site or remote. Get feedback easily, either in small bites or comprehensive projects.
